YMCA of Staten Island
The YMCA of Staten Island – 1998 is a community-supported recreational center with an Olympic-sized swimming pool which had settled and was leaking through the settling cracks in the floor.
The project involved removing the pool floor, allowing other contractors to install pilings and then returning to lay in a pilings-supported, steel-reinforced cement floor slab that was contoured with both shallow and deep ends as expected for this scale of swimming pools.
This multi-phased project involved a particularly stiff pour and was conducted indoors in the heat of the summer. The floor was water-sealed by others and then the pool refilled. This project was completed on-time and on-budget.
