Island Foundations Corporation has been building concrete infrastructure throughout the five boroughs and northern New Jersey since 1994.

Chapin School Addition

The Chapin School Addition, Manhattan, 1998. General contractor was J.A. Jones.

This prestigious all-girls private school improvement to their building on East 84th Street required a major expansion without disrupting classes during the school year. Implemented in two phases where phase 1 involved shoring up the foundation in order to support the greater load of the new floors. Island Foundations Corporation was responsible for removing the basement floor, and reinforcing the existing footings supporting the building’s soon-to-be-revised loads and replaced the basement floor.

Phase 2, implemented in the second summer recess period involved installing three stories of reinforced structural concrete flooring. Island Foundations Corporation completed the project ontime and onbudget to the general contractor’s and owners representative’s great satisfaction.
