Chabad House, Manhattan, 2004. General contractor was Ryder Construction.
Chabad House is the Jewish student’s community center at Columbia University. In this project, Island Foundations Corporation was contracted to lower the basement floor and install mini-piles which are shown being drilled at right. We utilized underpinning procedures, dewatered the work area and utilized soil grouting techniques to stabilize the walls. Later we installed a basement floor that included construction of special mikvah baths that were inspected by appropriate rabbinical authorities.
