Bard Hall

Bard Hall, Manhattan 2000. General Contractor was Pavarini McGovern.

The 2000 renovation of the nine-story dormitory of Bard College Graduate Center involved extensive structural rehabilitation work.

The contract involved removing the basement floor, digging out and removing rock for a deeper basement floor level, deepening the elevator pit so the elevators could descend to new basement level and the installation of a replacement cement reinforced basement floor. Column needling (shown below) was used during the project to assure that the footings of load bearing beams could be safely enlarged and deepened without putting the entire structure at risk. Project was completed on-time and on-budget to the highest levels of owner’s satisfaction.
